I did similar work until about 6 years ago. Worked for people such as Zurich and several more.

I'm Howard Watkins; a long time member of the 2mm scale association and the N gauge society. I am also a committee member of MERG.
For a long time I'be been "on the fence" trying to decide between staying with N gauge or converting everything to 2mm. The trouble is that I am interested in steam (UK around the 1950s to 1960s) and it is hard/time consuming to convert steam locomotives to 2mm. I've been using Easitrac for plain track but soon will need some points, so I am waiting for the first kits to become available.
I have built points in 2mm, but I like the ideas behind the fiNetrax points. My first project will be a crossover and a point to a siding. I plan to use continuous rail between the various components where possible.
I'm not sure about the cast frog and may experiment with rail built ones.
Pity I missed out on the beta testing - I heard about this product too late.
Howard.

Hi Howard,
Regarding the cosmetics of the frog, I have found that (and I will also list this in a 'hints and tips' section) using a metal blackening solution (like Carrs black for Nickel Silver) to blacken the whole frog first, then using a glass fibre cleaning pen to clean off all the areas except the solid area in between the rails, really helps with the look of the frog. I will have to post a photo.

Hello, I am Simon Almond.
I have been an armchair member of the 2mm Scale Association since the early 1980s, work and family commitments denied me the chance to get any meaningful modelling done until now.
I had managed to accumulate a fair amount of N-gauge stock over the years and do a lot of research for a prototype to model. I sold off all my old stock last year and have started a fresh collection to the new standards. The intention was to convert everything to 2mmFS, but last week I looked at the wheels of the new stuff and decided that I'd Google around to see if was really necessary to convert. It seems not, which is a huge relief!
Project shifts forward a gear now, first task being to convert a mainline station Templot plan from 2mmFS to 9mm gauge. That will be fun. My prototype trackwork is likely to entail a fair bit of custom building (equalised timbering, curved points &c) on Templot templates, but I am up for that. Fortunately only nine points are involved, four of which are in two crossovers.
I am delighted with the fiNetrax initiative and will be happy to contribute to getting things off the ground. I live in Lincolnshire and work for a large IT company supporting manufacturing systems in the food industry 24 x 365.

Hello I'm Richard, currently fairly new to the online forum scene - only a member of the ngauge forum.
I have built a few layouts over the years, my current is third rail network south east era. I do plan to build a new layout, again 3rd rail, just waiting on the release of this new track! So ill have a fair order to put in! Outside of the hobby I work for Tesco. Nothing interesting I'm afraid! Richard

Welcome Richard, I am hoping to get the website live by the end of the week. I have jigs and turnout kits boxed up (30 of) but still finishing the instructions. Also waiting for other stock to arrive (solder, flux, files, glue..). Nearly there

Hi. I'm Ian, a retired teacher. Started building my first model railway, based on the railways of the Tweed Estuary in the Borders, about a year and a half ago (described on RMWEB). It's a 2mm FS project 15' by 8' and is a long term effort. It was put on hold last October when we sold the house and embarked on a 10yr road trip in our big German motorhome. I'm missing the model railway and am about to start on a smaller project which will keep me going for the next few years until I can get back to the Berwick, Tweed Dock and Spittal Railway. I don't have the workshop facilities or tools in the motorhome, so rather than 2mm FS I've decided on N gauge and fiNetrax, so the rolling stock side of the project will be easier with my limited space and tools, to say nothing of my limited ability!! For the B, TD and S I built 12 2mm FS turnouts and laid a lot of Easitrac, and am looking forward to using this new product.....layout is at the planning stage at the moment, but progress will be fairly swift once I get the planning completed. Regards Ian

Hi Ian, Welcome to the forum. Wow, a 10yr road trip, did I read that correctly? I hope fiNetrax will be a good alternative to 2FS for you

Hi, I'm Jamie. I'm just starting out creating an Agatha Christie themed model railway(!) The layout is called Murder on the Tracks (you can follow the progress on my blog murderonthetracks.co.uk)
I am a member of both the 2mm Scale Association and the N Gauge Society, and I was intending to use 2mm components but building to N Gauge standards. I was planning on using copperclad sleepers, but have always much preferred the look of the 2mm Easitrac system.
The fiNetrax system looks like it might fit my needs perfectly! The section of the layout I'm starting on first only has plain track (I didn't think it would be a good idea to jump right in making points for my first time building track!), so I am excited to have a little experiment! I'll let you know how it goes...
