Hi Guys,
In 3 parts:
Part 1 covers how to apply solder to the rail to strengthen it prior to filing it into a switch blade:
Part 2 covers filing the switch blade:
Part 3 covers soldering the chair plate using the assembly jig, and tiebar assembly:

Not soldering the pin in place??
Each time I try to watch the 3rd video it locks at 8:45 minutes through, but worked fine if I watched it on YouTube.

Hi Bob,
There is a reason for this. I wanted the design so that each switch blade can be installed into the turnout base individually, one at a time. So in the video where the pin goes into the chair plate hole, imagine this is on the turnout base.
Because the chair plate and tie bar are 'wedged' between the stock rails and the turnout base, there should be no up/down movement - meaning it should stay in place even without the glue. The glue is just an extra precaution.
You could try, if you are skilled enough, to apply some solder to the tip of the pin, but you risk upsetting the solder attaching to the blade.

Soldering skill, nil (ish). Just asking 'stupid' questions.
If you don't ask, you may never know.
