What consensus been reached on flangeways? All my rolling stock will be of recent manufacture or modifications thereof, so I am not unduly concerned about backward compatibility beyond a few years. My preference would be for as narrow a gap that will be consistent with not having to undertake a large number of back-to-back adjustments. It seems to me that this is the only really significant point of divergence from 2SFG standards and appearance. I am just about to convert a fairly large Templot drawing to fiNetrax and I would prefer to work to an accepted standard rather than set my own. I'd like to share the risk!

Hi Simon,
The final clearances are 0.85mm at the crossing/frog and 1mm on the check rails.
This allows most RTR stock to run through unmodified, unless grossly under.

Hi,
I have just joined the forum and sent off for some sample track and a point kit.
There has been some comment that it would be better if Finetrax followed the clearances of the NMRA standards.
Am I right in thinking that with a replacement cast frog with finer clearances and a revised version of the moulded check rail chairs to reduce the gap while using the existing holes in the track base, that clearances could be changed to NMRA standards without the need for any other changes to the components?

Hi Douglas,
Sorry for the late reply and thanks for your order. We are just waiting for more B8 cast frogs to arrive, hopefully tomorrow, and will then send out your order.
You are correct, the cast frog is the easy part to change clearances, then just leaves the check rail chair. The check rail chairs can be cut/trimmer to decrease the flangeway, though.
